A note from Jeff

“I started Crest because I wanted to build a plumbing company that does the work right and treats people — customers and crew — the way they deserve. If you’re a licensed plumber tired of being treated like a number at a franchise shop, or an apprentice looking for a place that will actually invest in you, read through what we’re offering. The pay is real. The work is local. The culture is what I’d want if I were coming to work for someone else. That’s the whole pitch.”
— Jeff, Owner · Crest Plumbing · Cookeville, TN

What Crest Plumbing offers and what it doesn’t

Most plumbing job listings describe the same generic benefits. These are the specifics — the things that actually matter to a plumber deciding whether to make a move.

Local routes — home every night

Every job Crest runs is in Cookeville and Putnam County — occasionally Algood, Baxter, nearby towns. No multi-county dispatch. No overnight travel. You know your service area, you build relationships with repeat customers, and you go home at the end of the day. That matters more than most job listings acknowledge.

Pay published — no games during the interview

The pay range for both positions appears on the role pages — not “competitive salary DOE” that wastes everyone’s time. Crest publishes the range because candidates deserve to know before they apply, and because a company that hides pay is usually hiding something else. The range is real. Placement within it depends on experience and licensure level.

Truck, tools, and uniforms — Crest provides

A company truck, professional uniforms, and the tools required for residential service all come from Crest. Technicians bring their personal hand tools and their skills. The expectation is that Crest provides a professional setup — and the team maintains it to that standard. What Crest shows up in reflects on every person who wears the logo.

Residential only — no commercial pace

We serves residential customers — homeowners in Cookeville dealing with real plumbing problems in their homes. The work pace, the customer relationship, and the job satisfaction of residential service are fundamentally different from commercial production work. Technicians who like interacting with homeowners, diagnosing problems correctly, and doing quality work thrive here. Techs optimized for production pace will find a better fit elsewhere — and Crest would rather know that upfront than discover it on week three.

Flat-rate pricing — no commission pressure on technicians

Crest charges flat-rate pricing to customers and does not pressure technicians to upsell unnecessary work. Technicians who recommend the right repair — even when it means a smaller job — are doing exactly what Crest wants. The business model does not require upselling to survive. That removes a source of daily discomfort that exists at many shops and produces better outcomes for customers and crew alike.

Direct communication with Jeff — no layered management

Crest Plumbing is a small, growing company — which means Jeff is present, accessible, and involved in the day-to-day. Questions, concerns, and ideas get heard by the person who can actually act on them. That changes as the company grows, but the commitment to direct communication as a core value does not. Technicians who want to work in a place where they have a voice get that here.

A day at Crest Plumbing

(What You Actually Do as a Tech)

Residential plumbing service in Cookeville is diagnostic, varied, and customer-facing. No two days run identically. Technicians who thrive here like solving problems, communicating with homeowners in plain language, and doing work they can stand behind. Here is what a typical day looks like.

Morning dispatch —first job planned the day before

Jobs load into Housecall Pro the evening before so technicians start the day with a clear picture of the schedule — who, where, and what the customer called about. No scrambling at 7am to figure out where to go first. Routes build logical sequences across Cookeville and Putnam County rather than bouncing across the map.

Customer calls — diagnostic residential service

Water heater repairs. Drain clearing. Leak detection. Gas line concerns. Sewer line assessments. Filtration installations. The full scope of residential plumbing service that Crest offers — each call different, each customer a homeowner with a real problem. Technicians arrive, assess, communicate the finding and the flat-rate price, and do the work correctly the first time.

Flat-rate pricing — no pressure, no commission

Before starting any job, the technician provides the customer a flat price. No hourly running clock When the diagnosis reveals the right repair is smaller than expected, the technician recommends the smaller repair — because Crest’s pricing model and culture support that. Customers trust Crest because technicians are honest. That trust builds the reputation that grows the business.

Wrap-up — job documented, truck restocked

After each job, the technician closes it in Housecall Pro, notes any follow-up needed, and restocks the truck from the parts inventory. Documentation matters at Crest — it protects the customer record, supports warranty follow-up, and maintains the professional standard the company is built on.

End of day — home in Cookeville

Routes finish in the service area. Technicians go home. The schedule protects personal time as a design principle — not just when it happens to work out. Crest carries an on-call rotation for genuine emergencies, but day-to-day scheduling runs within normal working hours by intention.

Why plumbers in Cookeville choose Crest over a franchise shop

You know the owner

Jeff is present, accessible, and involved daily. Decisions about pay, equipment, and direction come directly from him — not through a regional manager who reports to a corporate office in another state. Your concerns reach the person who can act on them.

Grow with the company

Crest is early-stage and building deliberately. Technicians who join now and demonstrate the values the company is built on grow with it in ways that a 500-location franchise cannot offer. Seniority at Crest means something — because the company’s growth trajectory makes it meaningful.

No upsell quota
Franchise shops often run on high-pressure upsell systems because the business model requires it. Crest runs on flat-rate pricing and customer trust. Technicians diagnose honestly and recommend the right repair. No daily anxiety about whether you sold enough to hit a number.
Residential service
We do residential service in homes — not high-volume commercial production. Technicians who value diagnostic work, quality over quantity, and genuine customer relationships find the right fit here. Production-focused technicians will be honest with themselves that this is not the right environment.
Local reputation
In a community the size of Cookeville, reputation travels fast. Crest’s reputation is built on every customer interaction — which means every technician’s work directly builds or damages the company’s standing in the community. That creates real accountability and real pride in doing the job right.
Built on clear values
Crest operates on values Jeff can articulate and stand behind — faithful in the little things, honest with customers, built to last generations. These are not a poster on the wall. They show up in how we price jobs, how we talk to customers, and how we treat the people who do the work.

Plumbing Jobs @ Crest Plumbing FAQ — Cookeville, TN

Is Crest Plumbing hiring licensed plumbers in Cookeville, TN?
Yes — Crest Plumbing currently has two open positions in Cookeville, Tennessee: a lead licensed plumber and a customer service representative. Both positions work residential plumbing service in Cookeville and Putnam County with local routes and competitive pay. The lead position requires a Tennessee limited plumber license. Crest provides structured training and supports the licensing path. Apply at crestplumbingtn.com/careers or call Jeff directly at (931) 239-4345.
Do I need a license to apply for the apprentice position?
No — the apprentice position does not require a license to start. Crest looks for attitude, reliability, and the genuine desire to build a career in residential plumbing. Apprentices ride with Jeff and the team, build practical skills on real residential jobs, and log the required hours toward Tennessee journeyman licensure. Crest actively supports the licensing path and treats it as part of what the company provides — not something apprentices navigate alone on their own time.
What does Crest pay plumbers in Cookeville?
Pay ranges for both positions are published on the individual role pages — not hidden behind “competitive salary DOE.” Crest publishes pay because candidates deserve that information before investing time in an application, and because hiding compensation is not consistent with the transparency Crest operates on. Visit the journeyman or apprentice role page for specific current ranges. Pay is hourly with structured increases as skills develop for apprentices, and competitive hourly plus performance considerations for journeymen.
Will I have to travel far from Cookeville for work?
No overnight travel. Routes run in Cookeville and Putnam County — occasionally into neighboring towns like Algood and Baxter. Technicians go home at the end of every working day. The occasional emergency on-call rotation produces a genuine after-hours call, but day-to-day scheduling runs within the Cookeville service area by design. Multi-county dispatch and overnight work are not part of how Crest operates.
Does Crest provide a truck and tools?
Yes — Crest provides a company service truck, professional uniforms, and the tools required for residential plumbing service. Technicians bring their personal hand tools and their expertise. The expectation runs in both directions: Crest provides a professional setup, and technicians maintain that setup to the same professional standard Crest holds itself to with customers. A well-equipped, well-maintained truck reflects directly on the company and the technician driving it.
How does the hiring process work?
Submit the application form on this page or the role-specific page with your contact information, position interest, license status, and a brief description of your background and what you’re looking for. Jeff reads every application personally and responds within one business day. The process from application to offer is intentionally straightforward — a conversation, a reference check for experienced candidates, and an honest discussion of fit on both sides. Crest does not run candidates through a multi-week corporate interview process.
